VOLUNTEER
Volunteer Opportunities
There are many different ways in which members and friends of St. Stephens may volunteer in our parish. Volunteers are needed in the following areas:
Choir
People are needed to sing in our choir. The group is very congenial, and we have a lot of fun learning old and new material. Some of us sight-read music and others do not, and our choirmaster is very good at working with members of all experience levels. We welcome all who have the desire to sing, experienced or not. If you are interested in joining, you may see one of the choir members, we are the people with the 'balcony' seats up in the loft, or you may attend at our Thursday night rehearsals at 7:30 p.m. You need not be able to attend all rehearsals, as we rehearse prior to the Sunday morning service at 9:00 a.m. You may contact Natalie Remisoski for more information on our choir.
Church School Teachers & Assistants
Volunteers are needed to teach and assist in our Children's Church School. You need not have experience teaching to volunteer. Lessons are prepared for you in advance by our Children's Ministry Coordinator. If you are interested in volunteering, you may contact Natalie Rankine.
Coffee Hour & Lemonade in the Courtyard
Volunteers are needed to host our weekly Coffee Hours and Lemonade in the Courtyard. Volunteers may purchase or bake goodies, bagels, fruit or any type of light fare. Volunteers setup, make coffee, tea and lemonade and clean up after the hour is finished. If you would like to volunteer for coffee hour, but you don't know how to use the equipment, we will show you how, please contact the church secretary and she will put you in touch with someone who will train you. Signup sheets for coffee hour and lemonade in the courtyard may be found on the clipboard in the back of the sanctuary.
Crop Walk
Volunteers are needed to walk and work this event. Crop walk involves neighbors walking together to take a stand against hunger in our world. Together we raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting. The Crop walk takes place each spring, and volunteers are needed to walk, raise funds and work the event. For more information how you can become involved in this event, you may contact Sean Remisoski.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
People are needed to volunteer to craft shawls for us to bless and pass on to those in need of their prayerful comfort. Those interested in gathering as a group, or creating on your own, please contact Sharon Dmitruchina at (313) 382-6451. This is a wonderful way to spread God's healing love. The prayer shawl ministry is also soliciting donations of yarn for their projects for those who would like to contribute, but do not knit.
